DOG BITE PREVENTION
Some facts:
Any dog will bite given sufficient provocation.
Most dog bites are preventable.
Most dog bites occur to children.
Most dogs do not bite because they are trying to injure; rather, they bite because their signals have not been understood or respected by their family.
As a former pediatric ophthalmologist, I have seen too many cases of preventable dog bites that occurred to children, resulting in unfortunate consequences for both the child and the dog. If your dog has a bite history, seems to growl or be grouchy without warning, or if your dog interacts with children (your own or others), I recommend a session to go over strategies on how to keep everyone safe.
